Unfinished, green nephrite adze blank. The two faces are well polished, but the distal and proximal end are unfinished. The label that is included reads: "Green Nephrite Axe or Wedge. Broken. Locality: Unknown but appears to be British Columbia, Canada. Bamboo Hut. July 18, 1978. UR.un - piece. This measures 7 7/716" Long x 2 9/16" wide x 5/8" thick." J. Fisher, 03/20/03 On one side a direct label is adhesed with "50.00" written on it in black ink. Another direct label with the catalog number "1999-97/89" printed on archival paper is located on the same side in the corner. -N. Arambula 1/4/2010

Dark and light green nephrite adze. Bifacially bevelled bit, with slightly convex sides that taper gently to a rough end. Label included reads: "Nephrite, greenish-gray with dark brown streaks. Axe or Adz Blade. Locality: Unknown. Probably this is British Columbia. Fine work. Bamboo Hut. July 22, 1978. MMI.si - piece. This measures 6 5/8" long x 2 1/16" widest x 5/8" greatest Thickness." and "Fine Greenish-Gray Adz or Axe Blade of Nephrite Jade." -J. Fisher 03/20/03 There are two direct labels on this adze. One is an adhesive label that says Jase 125.00 in ink and the other is a printed label that is affixed with rhoplex and says 1999-97/88. - A. Thickpenny 1/4/2010

Ground stone adze, with incised grooves on either side, running lengthwise down the middle. It is broken across the end opposite the tip. There also seem to be some flake-like removals from the faces, but they could be use-damage or post-depositional. Pecking apparent on the sharp edge. Celt of greenish gray jade.* Fide donor GTE: Celt of a greenish grey color of a laminated structure. Found near Victoria on Vancouver Island. It is characterized by the completeness of its finish and its shape is suggestive of having been mounted in a section of bone or horn. 2"x1.75"x3/8". *Information is from the original accession ledger.
