Round stone with depression on one side. Object is slightly oblong, with a number of unweathered scratches in its surface, as well as several weathered flake or batter scars. Orange in color, various forms of weathering along the rim of the depression. The depression is 3.5 inches deep.

According to Bergen's notes: "a fine grained granite stone mortar." Artifact has flat bottom with flared sides (G. Rappaport 03/12/2002). Ground exterior and interior surfaces, cracks are visible on both exterior and interior surfaces. Some cracks appear to have been filled with consolidents.

Basalt stone mortar with hole through the bottom (G. Rappaport, 03/12/2002). L-shaped crack visible on exterior surface (8cm x 15.5cm). "Bergen Notes: Basalt stone mortar about 9 1/2 inches in diameter and 6 inches in depth. A hole has been worn or else this was "killed" by knocking a hole in the bottom. This was found at a depth of 3 1/2 feet after removing about four feet of overburden. See Photo File-Slides 3-12"
