Basketry TrayA2273

Tan tray of simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with watch-spring construction. Partial imbrication. The sides are three splint rows with a wrapped border. Interior of the basket has three concentric divisions and an inner row of cat-tail grass and then two rows of alternating black cherry bark and grass repeated. Between these, there are nine diagonal lines in red, then nine shapes in red, then twenty "X" shapes in red with cat-tail inside.

Basketry TrayA2361

Round, tan basketry tray of simple coiled work with bifurcated stitches and watch-spring base construction. Slat sides and overcast, splint rim. Tray has coiled handles and is decorated with partial imbrication and beading. Two rows of discrete designs of v shapes in red/white/black separated by a line of red beading, three around the inner row and six around the outer row. One row of black beading near the centre. Stepped design in red beading on the outside edge.

Coiled work tray with handles. Simple interlocking coiled work with parallel slat base with two rows of watch-spring construction at the edge. Wide slat for the side with an extra row separating into handles. Braided edge under the handle and partial imbrication. Inside of the tray is decorated with six geometric figures, two large diamond figures in red and black with a smaller black diamond figure. Exterior of basket has a series of diamond figures and wide beading. .

Coiled cedar root tray with handles. Round in shape with simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches) on splint foundation with slat foundation sides. Separated handles, three strand flat braided border, and imbricated interior and exterior. The interior surface is decorated with a radial pattern that consists of blocks of red and black cherry bark which radiate out from the centre in eight rows (forming three concentric horizontal rows). "V" forms around the edge. Sides scattered beading in thick strips of red and black. The exterior surface has beading that alternates in red and black.

Coiled cedar root tray with handles. Round in shape with simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches), watch-spring base construction, and sides with slat foundation. Separated handles and overcast rim with flat braiding under the handles. Partial imbrication on the interior base only. Design is a four-pointed star pattern of black (exterior) and red (interior) cherry bark. There are also four chevron figures in black and red in parallel position to the star.

Simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches). Parallel slat construction. Braided loop work border and reinforcement at the sides. Design consists of alternating red and black chevrons on a light yellow background.
