The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Walking stick surmounted by a two-faced head. The two-faced carving has one face with a closed mouth with fangs, and another with an open mouth and protruding tongue. The eyes of each face are inlaid with shell. The staff is made from rough wood (or possibly root?). There is a thick fibrous cord attaching the top of the staff to the main shaft. The cord, handle and carving are all coloured with a reddish-brown ochre pigment.
Gift of Mrs. Otto Goepel
From card: "Head elaboratedly carved; not painted."
