Vessel with face decoration in single spout. Body is rounded and bulbous, narrowing toward a flat, oblong base. Shoulder is decorated with engraved linear motifs in swirls, concentric diamonds and ‘x’ shapes, with an encircling wave motif above and below. Neck is shaped into a human head, with protruding ears at sides and nose at centre, and wide eyes and mouth. Top is open, rim slightly flared. Slightly cracked.
Clay vessel is round in front view, thick and flat in profile. Neck is squat and bulbous, with a tall rim flaring widely atop it and two small loop side handles connecting to shoulder. Neck and rim are painted dark brown and handles are decorated with brown lines. Body has light yellow-white slip. Well preserved and worn.
Clay pot with human face in spout neck. Body is round and bulbous, narrowing toward a slightly convex and circular base. Shoulder is decorated with a wide line of raised dots interspersed with a sitting lizard motif. Neck is narrow, shaped into a small human face with protruding ears and features, and hair or a headdress falling to each side. Top flares widely into a thick rim. A large, flat loop handle spans rim to shoulder. Surface is burnished. Well preserved.
Black clay vessel in the shape of a gourd. Body is thick and rounded, with stem thinning and looping up to join with a small, short spout that flares widely at the rim. A small loop handle in horizontal position connects at base of neck and shoulder of pot and base is flat. Gourd is ridged, with natural looking nodules covering the surface. Well preserved.
Clay pot in the shape of a woman. Figure lies on her back, legs bent and raised, hands behind thighs. A stirrup spout rises from stomach and pelvis. The figure has a detailed face with shoulder length hair painted on light brown. She is wearing a headband around her brown in a repeating series of triangle and step motifs. Well preserved.
Vessel is tall, tubular in shape, with a rounded bottom and flaring mouth. Top portion of exterior is painted with large, repeating step motifs around midpoint, with a geometric design encircling rim. These are in rust, tan, dark red and black on a white background. Interior is undecorated but for a black line around mouth. Slightly cracked.
Tall standing figure of a man. Left hand falls to his side, right holds a tall decorated staff. Around his waist is painted a loin cloth reaching mid-shin front and back. Several painted necklaces encircle his throat, as does a plant fibre cord holding a clam shell ornament. The man wears a mask heavily painted in a tan base colour topped with arrows and swirls in orange and dark grey. A tall headdress sits atop his head, carved to look like feathers at the sides and long curving horns at front. The figure stands on a small round base.
Wood carving of a man with drum, snake and bird. Man wearing a mask with prominent teeth and a shell headdress stands in a dance position, holding a kundu drum with handle in one hand and playing it with the other. A burlap skirt sits at his waist, and his ankles and wrists are decorated with loops of twisted rope. His left foot balances on the head of a large snake, its tail extending up past his shoulders and spanning the back of a large white and black eagle that stands on the man’s head. The eagle’s wings are slightly spread and it looks to the left with beak slightly open. The eyes of all figures are made of shell. The base of the sculpture is rounded, with the signature “Sebbie Dumoi” painted in white.
Wooden carving of three masked figures. A man stands in back with a large concave vessel balanced on his head. The vessel is light brown, with scalloped edges and a face carved and painted at top. Two women stand in front of the man, both carrying bags in one hand and decorative objects in the other. They wear elaborate headdresses that fall down their backs and are covered with shells carved into the wood. All figures wear similar skirts painted orange, yellow and brown, belted at the waist, and white cords crossing their chests. The masks they wear are densely painted in orange, yellow and brown on a white base. All figures have eyes made of shell. The base is rounded and entirely carved and painted.
Tall wood carving of three figures. A man sits on the rounded base, hands on widely spread knees, wearing a large mask on his head, the chin of which extends to his feet. It is painted white on brown with a long nose, bulging eyes, and a long pointed top. On the man’s shoulders stands a woman also wearing a mask, smaller and more delicately decorated. Both wear grass skirts and twisted fibre decoration around their limbs. Perched on her shoulders is a large bird with a massive rounded beak, it’s tail extending down the back of the carving. All figures have eyes made of shell.
