Dance Screen3317/1

Woven cedar bark screen with painted design in a vertical orientation. The screen is edged with wide strips of bark. The screen is divided into two sections by black and orange strips of bark woven into borders. The upper section is painted with a vertical panel featuring a thunderbird at top, a row of paddles(?), an anthropomorphic face, and a four-legged creature underneath. The lower section depicts a whale with a thunderbird perched on top, and a whaling vessel, which is being rained on from under another thunderbird. There is another fishing vessel on the left, and a four-legged creature to the right.

Collar3080/13

Collar flap from back of women’s jacket. Front has a top panel of dark brown synthetic fibre, under which is sewn a panel decorated in dark yellow and blue step patterning with white stitching. Around the panels is an edging of faded pink silk. Back panel is made of cotton fabric and the silk edging shows the original bright pink colour. Flap has been removed from a larger garment and has black thread hanging loose along the top edge.

Commercial glass beads strung on nylon lines. The beading forms a tube shape with different rows of colour, zigzagging and then joined to the next row with a sing red bead between. The band is joined with a single large white bead, and has eight strings of beads extending out.
