The exact function of monumental stone slabs such as this one is unknown because only a few have been found in situ. One example was discovered upright in a cemetery, and scholars believe that such intricately carved stone monuments could have been used as grave markers for important individuals. In the manner of modern-day headstones, the base would have been buried in the ground. This stela is topped with three kneeling human figures wearing jaguar masks. The back of the slab is decorated with eighteen crouching jaguars. The jaguar may have been a totem animal or clan symbol of the deceased.
Rectangular woven shawl. The centre section of the shawl is light brown and has a design of alternating green and purple thick lines. The light brown centre has a border made up of two lines with small triangles between them. On either end of the shawl there are identical designs. The designs are made up of different arrangements of lines and triangles in various colours.
Hand woven rug with two flower-like designs, surrounded by a geometric pattern. In the centre of each flower there are orange, purple and black squares. Around these squares are green petal-like shapes. There is a border with a similar geometric pattern surrounding the inner design. The border has a thick black line on either side of it. There is a white fringe running along each end of the rug.
Pair of hair ties. At one end of each tie, the threads are woven together. At the base of the weave there are white beads alternating with pink and yellow fibre that is wrapped around the base threads. There are three sections of white beads and two sections of wrapped thread. Below the pattern of beads and wrapped thread there is a purple tassel and at the end of each tassel there is either a round metal disc or a white bead. Two wrapped sections emerge from the tassel; these sections again alternate between white beads and wrapped thread. At the end of each of the two wrapped sections there is a tassel, similar to that found in the centre of the tie. At the end of each of the threads of the tassels there is either a round, metal disc or a white bead.
A pair of dark green cloth ties. Each tie is in three sections, each section made up of several strings, all of which are tied together at one end. At the opposite end from the knot, each of the three groups of strings are brought together and then wrapped in colourful thread with a different coloured pattern for each group. At the end of each section, below the colourful thread, are many smaller strings, each with a bead on the end. Two of the groups have blue beads, while one has white beads.
Brown, wooden suspension hook made from four upward curving 'branches', the ends of which are carved into four horse heads. The necks of the horse’s heads are decorated with chiseled parallel grooves. From the mouth of each of the four horse heads there are carved knobs suspended. There is also another set of knobs attached lower down on the horses' necks. The bottom end of these four horse head branches are inserted into the lower end of a central carved vertical pole, into a carved square box shape and are arranged so that they are diametrically opposite each other. At the end of the box there is a projection onto which is attached a wooden knob. The middle section of the hook is comprised of four twisted columns that meet at a mid-point in a carved knot design. The top of the hook is a carved wooden disc where seven carved wooden knobs are attached. The knobs are the same as those found in the horses’ mouth and on the horses’ neck. An iron ring is attached to the disc that is used to suspend the hook.
