Terracotta pregnant monkey vessel, incised. The thick rim of the pot mimics the shape of a wide brimmed hat sitting atop the figure’s head. Below, the face has bulging eyes and a protruding nose and chin. The body is large and round, with a prominently protruding belly. Vague shapes of arms and legs exist on the sides of the figure. Scratched into the surface of the vessel in thin, light coloured lines are the outlines of arms, legs, feet and hands, as well as a tail at back.

Cocle style terracotta pedestal plate with tan coloured creatures on a black slip decorating both the interior of the plate and base of the pedestal. The plate slopes slightly down from rim to centre. Pedestal is round, narrow at neck where it attaches to the plate, widening toward base where it flares out at bottom rim. Pedestal is hollow inside. The vessel is painted black with bird-like creatures painted on plate and pedestal, along with encircling decorative lines of light brown, black, and rust.

Vessel2847/16

Painted terracotta vessel with globular bowl forms stacked on pedestal base. The top bowl has a band of cream and red squares encircling it. Pot body consists of two equally sized orbs, one atop the other. The top orb has a small mouth with rim, while the bottom orb sits on a wide flaring base that is hollowed on the inside. The interior of the pot is hollow throughout both orbs. The shoulder of the pot is painted in a rough, rust coloured checked pattern, with brown lines below that are mimicked on the top of the second orb. The bottom orb and base are painted with abstract figures. The interior of the pot is undecorated.

Vessel2847/13

Terracotta effigy pot with zoomorphic applique. Pot is round and somewhat squat, with a concave neck and flaring rim. On either side of neck are two small, round projections with holes. On opposite sides of the shoulder are two protruding animal heads with pig-like snouts, hats, and round hands, facing upward. The midway point of the body is indicated with a thick and protruding line. The lower body recedes to a small round foot. The pot is unpainted but has areas of black carbonization, particularly on the bottom half.

Short statuette of a billiken type figure. The figure has high, rounded cheeks, slanted eyes, and tall, pointed ears. There are two small scratches on the crown of his head indicating hair. Two holes have been bored into the chest suggesting nipples. A belly button has been carved and painted black on the figure’s rounded stomach. It has shallowly-carved sides with extremely long arms.

Bronze cast of a partial female figure with a dark green-grey marble finish. The figure has wide flaring hips, a deep circular belly button and curves up to an asymmetrical one-breasted chest. Concave one the back with high ridges on the sides. Syllabic character(?) inscribed at back, near base, as well as the edition number 1/3.

Jar2894/2 a-b

Tall cylindrical jar with lid. The jar’s body is slightly concave, flaring at bottom as well as top to where a wide mouth contains an inner rim to hold the lid (part b). The base angles inward to a smaller round foot. The body texture is of small encircling lines and is glazed black and orange-red. The interior of the pot is white with a small amount of orange. The lid sits down inside the pot’s rim and is round and shallow with a tall, thin round handle in the middle. The lid is orange on bottom and top outer edge, with a black centre and handle. The top of the handle is also orange. The base is stamped with an oblong circle with an ‘I’ shape in the centre.

Rattle Bowl2959/21

Large rattle bowl with red slip and design inside, cream slip and design outside. Round vessel has a narrow circular base, from which thin walls flare widely toward the rim. The exterior is light brown, painted in a small open pattern of dark brown lines. At rim and base are encircling lines of dark brown and orange. The interior of the bowl is painted orange, overlaid with a large pattern of crosses in light and dark brown. At the rim are several encircling lines, some straight, one zigzag and one in a W and M motif. The base of the interior is convex, holding noise makers that rattle when the bowl is moved.

Jester Mask2946/94

Pepino mask. Fabric mask with a half-white, half-blue face. The tip of the nose and curved lips are painted red. There are diamonds and circles painted on the chin, red and blue with yellow outlines on the blue side and white and red with black outlines on the white side. There are white ears stapled to the side of the face. There are three foam triangles at the top of the head in pink, white, and yellow. The bottom hem is unfinished on both sides.

Pepino mask. Fabric mask with half-red, half-yellow face. The tip of the nose is painted red. The lips and teeth are white on the yellow portion of the face and pink on the red side. There are diamonds and circles in yellow and red on the chin. There is a large red heart on each cheek. Blue paper ears have been attached to the sides of the head with staples. There are three foam triangles at the top of the head in green, pink and yellow. The front hem is unstitched and the back is sewn in blue and white thread.
