Pot2847/79

Small, circular ceramic pot, orange in colour, standing on three legs. The pot has a slightly flared rim that leads to a somewhat bulbous body. Two small round handles protrude on each side. On the front of the pot’s body is the face of an animal, with a protruding snout showing mouth and nostrils and two eyes coloured with white pigment. On the back is a protruding conical tail, flanked on each side by four small impressions coloured with white pigment. The bowl’s legs are shaped like inverted cones. The interior of the pot is smooth with a dark carved line encircling just below the rim.

Small, circular ceramic pot, dark grey in colour, with three legs. The pot has a thick rim on which has been carved linear and triangular designs. The neck is short and slightly curved, and the body flares outward to a low, sharp shoulder where it narrows to a round bottom. Carved lines encircle the body above the shoulder, with sun shapes carved above each leg. The legs are conical with a sharp shoulder, and each has two vertical incisions. The interior of the pot is smooth and unmarked.

Ceramic stand that is widely flared at both top and bottom and has a hole through it's centre. The top is slightly wider than the bottom and has a rough rim with several small bumps along the rim on one side. The narrow centre exterior of the dish has a protruding belt with incised diagonal line design, and the bottom flare is decorated with large perforated cross shapes. Remnants of orange pigment can be seen inside and out. The texture of the dish overall is quite rough.

Round ceramic pot, orange in colour. The body is bulbous with a rounded bottom. The short straight neck ends in a rim with a considerable amount of chips taken out of it. Two faces protrude from the shoulder at opposite sides of the pot. Each has a round nose with perforated nostrils, partially closed eyes, and a slightly open mouth. A small amount of grey residue clings to the interior bottom.

Ceramic pot is composed of 2 cups attached by a short tubular neck at the midpoint and a high arching handle from rim to rim. The body of each cup is bulbous with a rounded base, and the rim is flared with an indented neck. Two thick legs, forked at the bottom, support each cup. One leg has been reattached with adhesive. When the pot is moved, a slight jingle can be heard emanating from one of the legs. A protruding animal is on each pot on the sides furthest from each other. Each has a triangular head with incised eyes and mouth, and curved arms with small round hands. The cups are also decorated with vertical, upraised, perforated lines, and several small protruding circles on the rims.

Terracotta pot with a wide mouth, flared rim and a somewhat bulbous body with a rounded base and three rattle legs. The body is decorated with lines and patterns in orange and brown, very faded and obscured over much of the surface. The interior of the pot is painted with orange lines from rim to base. The legs are cone shaped with incised holes showing the hollow interior. Small clay balls can be seen through the incisions, which rattle when moved.

Trileg terracotta dish with animal feet. Dish is shallow with a wide mouth, narrowing to a slightly narrower base. The interior sides of the dish are painted with patterns of brown lines and orange colour blocks, while the bottom has a single orange circle painted in the centre. The outside body is similarly decorated with colour blocks, lines, and dots in orange and brown. The base of the pot is flat and undecorated. The three feet take the shape of animal heads with the chin resting on the floor. Each head is triangular in shape with painted eyes and a long snout with a round nose and painted mouth. Two small holes pierce each head on the sides and when the dish is moved, a slight muffled jingle can be heard emanating from each foot.

Vertical ceramic pot with a long narrow neck angling out into a bulbous body. The neck and body are decorated with double lines of evenly spaced small round indentations placed in patterns of zigzags and squares. Attached to the body are two large lizards with chin, chest, and tail tip fused to the pot, while the mid-section curves away to create a finger hold. The lizards have corrugated backs, webbed feet and hands, large widely spaced eyes and open mouths. The base of the pot is small and circular.

Circular ceramic dish with three legs that is orange and grey in colour. The body of the dish is carved with linear designs near the rim and has a rounded base. On the front of the body at the rim is the small, protruding, triangular head of an animal that has a wide mouth, nostrils and wide-set eyes. At the back is a wide tail decorated with angled lines and round indentations. Two small fins protrude from the pot at either side of the head, and are incised with lines. The legs of the pot are cone shaped and tall with round indentations and angled lines as decoration. The legs are partially hollow with vertical incisions, and two of the three contain a small clay bead that rattles when the dish is moved. The interior of the dish is smooth and undecorated, and contains a yellow residue over most of the surface.

Small ceramic pot, orange and yellow, with three legs. Pot has a wide rim with a neck that indents slightly before flaring out to a slightly squared but bulbous body. The shoulder is decorated with a line of many regular bulges, along which are placed three animal-like shapes. The three legs are relatively long, and conical in shape. The interior of the pot is smooth, and partly covered with a yellow-grey residue.
