Turban3231/7

Cotton turban. Garment is thin and very long, made of light, fine fabric that is dyed mottled shades of orange and yellow, with thin chevron patterns in green. Clusters of small gold leaf dots run the length of the fabric. An embroidered panel of metallic gold thread sits at one end of the garment.

Costume Stick3272/4

Kurent stick, or club. Made of a thick branch of wood, slightly curved along its length, blunt at each end. A leather thong passes through a hole at grip end, and a hedgehog pelt with quills and a small amount of fur is attached to head. A meal hook is screwed into head at tip.

Soul Catcher3260/131

Soul catcher made of a tubular piece of grizzly bear shin bone, flared at each open end. The ends are split partway to look like open animal mouths. Eyes are carved above each mouth with incised designs to indicate nostrils. A human-like face and torso, with hands raised to his chin, is carved at top centre, with two small holes drilled at either side of face.

Basket3259/40 a-b

Basket with lid. Small round basket is tightly woven in an even weave, with images of large whales in black and green chased by people in two boats, one hefting a harpoon. Basket is decorated with encircling lines at bottom in red, yellow and black, and at top in bright pink. Lid (part b) has images of water fowl in red and grey circling the pointed centre which has decoration in green and yellow. A line of grey and pink circles the edge of the lid, while a set of lines matching those on the bottom of the basket sit at the lip.
