Small unpainted, wooden, Dzunuk'wa style mask, without eye or mouth holes. Wood grain is prominent, creating circles at eyes and forehead, and emphasizing the round protruding mouth. Back is flat, with "Ellen Neel" carved below centre.
Small weaving with diamond and zigzag patterns in green, yellow, off-white and brown. Top loops of weaving hang over a wooden dowel. Blue 'Salish Weaving' tag sewn to back.
Hand-knitted Cowichan-style, pull-over sweater, with high collar. Grey and cream coloured stripes, with dark brown designs inside the upper cream stripes, grey band inside the lowest one. Leather cord loops through at neck.
Pair of men’s hide boots with beading and fur trim. Heel and cuff are edged with a dark brown fur. Toe panel and lower leg have beaded flowers in a variety of bright colours, with green foliage. Short hide fringe emerges from the top of the ankle fur and right boot has a thong for tightening attached at top back. Boots are lined with flannel.
Pair of women's hide boots with beading and fur trim. Heel and cuff are edged with a red-brown fur. Toe panel and outer side of the leg have beaded red flowers with green foliage, two blue flowers added to the design on the side. Black tube beads decorate the front of the leg, and a set of blue, pink and white tassels on braided cords hangs down from the cuff. Short leather tassels are attached at back. The boots are lined with cotton and felt.
Leather mittens joined by wool cord. Mittens are long, with fur edging at cuff and wrist. A panel between the two and sitting on top surface is made of black velvet, embroidered with flowers, foliage and branches in green, blue, pink and yellow. A similar pattern has been applied to the top of each mitt. Woolen cord is made of braided white, orange, green and brown strands of wool, with small pompoms and tassels. It is attached to each mitt on the inner side at top.
Pair of miniature mittens. Fine black fur surrounds both cuff and wrist of the light tan leather mitts. Between these strips as well as on the back of the hand are embroidered vines and flowers in red, purple and blue. Mittens are unlined.
Beaded panel, likely sewn to a shirt at one time. Triangular textile is red velvet with black edging. Glass beading is symmetrical, showing a large, single stem of stylized flowers and foliage in green, pink, blue and other colours. Light, inked pattern lines can be seen around some of the beading. Backing panel is unbleached cotton canvas.
Small dog blanket. Textile is rectangular, made of red felt embroidered with patterns of branches and leaves in light colours. A short fringe of green and blue edges the entire garment. Backing is made of thick wool fabric, with four leather panels holding thongs to attach blanket to the wearer.
Very large 'Tree of Life' sculpture made from clay in the shape of a densely branched tree with a thick trunk. Branches are unpainted, remaining an orange raw clay colour, while decorations are coloured using a wide variety of bright paints. Daisy flowers, leaves, and seeds are attached by metal pins planted into the clay. Among this dense foliage are small birds, the figures of Adam and Eve, angels, moon and sun, and god at top in front of a starry and cherub filled background. A large flower sits at centre of tree, with a spotted serpent wrapped around one petal. Back of tree is covered with the reddish slip but is undecorated.
