Bamba3392/9

A watercolour painting which depicts a spiritual being with a serpentine lower body. The being has white skin that transitions into a black, snake-like body at the waist. Around the being's waist is a belt of pink flower petals with white tips. Adornments are wrapped around the being's chest and neck, and decorative bands encircle its biceps and wrists. The being has narrow eyes, a small mouth, and stretched earlobes which extend down to its chin. It is wearing a headpiece which comes to a point at both sides. There is a teardrop shaped decoration on top of the headpiece, and side panels extend across its shoulders. In one of the being's hands is a yellow, oblong object, and in the other is a yellow and orange rectangular object. Below the being is a large pink flower with a thick stem and yellow centre. The painting's background is blue, and a rectangular black border encircles the image. Blue and white oblong rings radiate from the being's head and shoulders.

Adinkra Stamp3561/3 a-b

Adinkra stamp of the 'Biribi wo soro' design, carved info a piece of calabash gourd. Part b is the handle, made of four sticks held togther by black thread wrapped around the centre of the sticks. The gourd stamp (part a) has a deeply carved design of two joined half circles with a diamond-like shape at the centre. The back surface has four small holes where the pointed ends of the sticks are inserted, crossing midway up, at the thread, to form the handle.

Adinkra stamp of the 'Dwennimmen' (ram horns) design, carved info a piece of calabash gourd. Part b is the handle, made of four sticks held togther by dark blue thread wrapped around the centre of the sticks. The gourd stamp (part a) has a deeply carved design of four spirals with overlapping outer lines, one in each corner, with a diamond shaped hole at the centre. The back surface has four small holes where the pointed ends of the sticks are inserted, crossing midway up, at the thread, to form the handle.

Beadwork image on cloth of the Peel River watershed; front is brown, back is light green. Outline of watershed, done in light green, is filled with flowers, a fish jumping from a river, and two moose; flowers are pink, blue and white, fish is green and red, moose are brown with dark brown and white antlers. More pink and blue flowers are beaded in the bottom left corner of the cloth, black bird flying in top left, and a howling wolf, done in silver, is in the top right. Back of work is undecorated. Edge is bordered with blue beads.

Moccasins3558/17 a-b

Pair of ankle-high hide moccasins with elastic band behind the tongue. Top of toe and extended flaps around the ankles are covered with cloth panels with beaded decorations. Design on toes consist of dark blue flowers with green leaves on a white background; orange highlights throughout flowers. Design on flaps consist of maroon, dark blue and red-orange flowers with green leaves on a white background; dark green and orange highlights throughout flowers. Cloth panels are bordered with dark blue beads. Additional alternating orange and light blue-white bead border on edge of tongue, and top and sides of flap; hide fringe along bottom edge of flaps. Interior of flaps lined with polka-dotted cloth.

A watercolour painting which depicts a spiritual being seated on an elephant. The being has white skin, and is wearing a brown skirt that ends just below the knee. Decorations on both sides of the skirt curl outward at the hip. The bottom of the skirt has a border made up of white, yellow, and brown horizontal stripes. The main body of the skirt is covered with thinner horizontal stripes, and consists of two pieces which come together in the front. A piece of fabric hangs down from the waist. A blue, dotted sash is draped diagonally across the being's chest. Additional adornments are wrapped around its chest and neck, and decorative bands encircle its biceps, wrists, and ankles. The being has narrow eyes, a small mouth, and stretched earlobes that extend down to its chin. It is wearing a headpiece that comes to a point on both sides. There is a teardrop shaped decoration in the centre of the headpiece, and panels extend sideways across the being's shoulders. Both of the being's hands are raised by its sides, and one of them is holding a curved rod with a long handle. One of the being's legs is bent underneath it and rests on the head and neck of an elephant. The other leg is stretched out toward the ground. The elephant is white, with a long tail and trunk, and small, triangular ears. It is wearing a flat headpiece. The painting's background is blue, and a rectangular black border surrounds the image. Brown and white oblong rings radiate from the being's head and shoulders.

Jacket3558/7

Buckskin jacket with bead and fringe decoration. Jacket has a wide notched collar, long sleeves, two patch pockets and centre opening. Front and back of jacket have triangular panels, extending from the neck opening and ending mid-jacket. Five antler buttons along right side of front opening. Pink and dark purple flowers with green leaves beaded underneath collar, on either side of opening; petaled flowers have yellow centres. Identical flowers beaded across centre back, in a "V"-shaped formation. Bottom of "V" has a large dark purple and white flower, with an orange centre. Decorations on back are in the triangular panel. Fringe decoration is attached to the edges of the triangular panels, top edge of pockets, back seam of sleeves, and bottom edge of jacket. Interior is lined with dark brown fabric.

Button Blanket3558/1

Black button blanket with wide red bands along all edges, on front; small red neck tie along top edge with a snap metal closure. Inner edges of red bands are decorated with groupings of four white buttons, done in diamond formation; groups are spaced evenly throughout. Central design on blanket is a large copper, done in red felt. Copper has bear design on the top half and "T"-like design on bottom. White buttons are stitched across red felt. Top back edge of blanket is decorated with a wide red band. Two loop ties on either side, towards centre on back.

Dance Apron3558/2

Black dance apron with leather fringe extending from the bottom edge. Apron has two long black ties on either side; two copper designs on front centre, done in red felt. Coppers have a bear design on the top half and "T"-like design on the bottom. White buttons are stitched across the red felt. Leather fringe alternates between plain and beaded pieces; additional antler decoration on fringe with beads. Beads consist of black, red and white circular beads and alternating black and white tube beads. Back of apron is undecorated.
