Model drying rack with three parts: two wooden sticks with short metal spikes protruding from the bottom end, attached to each other near the top with sinew strung through holes bored through the centre of each stick (a); wooden stick with a short metal spike protruding from one end (b); short, flat, slightly convex piece of wood that tapers towards either end (c).

Part (a) Rectangular coiled storage basket (bifurcated stitches) with lid, part (b). Parallel base construction and elongated watch-spring coiled lid construction. Fully imbricated with cat-tail grass (?) and vertical zig-zag rows alternating in red and dark cherry bark. Two coil handles over rawhide on each short side. Basket has inner and outer rim. Row of solid cherry bark imbrication at outer rim and at base. Lid also fully imbricated with cat-tail grass(?) and has two continuous horizontal zig-zag rows of dark cherry bark near rim and red cherry bark above. Rectangular outlines in dark cherry bark around center, with red cherry bark filled in. Coil handle is missing at center.

Basket2785/3

Small rectangular cedar root basket. Imbrication all the way around the sides is of a light coloured grass, with red and dark brown cherry bark creating a pattern of double diamonds, bordered with vertical bands in red and dark brown. Green thread is stitched around basket near rim.

Rectangular basket with lid (part b). Cedar slat and root construction. Decoration is four horizontal bands of light coloured grass, and large diamond patterns of red and brown bark are woven into the four sides, with red and brown rectangles decorating the lid. Handle straps consist of two off-white strips of hide, spliced at each end, looped through the bark weave of each long sides and knotted.

Model Totem Pole2785/1

Carved and painted model totem pole nailed to a squared base. Perched on the large ears of the top figure of the pole is a bird with outstretched wings grasping a spotted seal in its talons. The green, red and black painted figures in the pole include three birds and a human dangling from the clenched teeth of a wolf.
