A watercolour painting which depicts a spiritual being with a bird lying at its feet. The being's body is dark grey and its head is green. It is wearing a blue skirt that ends just below the knee and curls outward at the hip. The bottom of the skirt has a border made up of white, yellow, and orange horizontal stripes. The main body of the skirt is covered in thinner horizontal stripes, and consists of two pieces which come together in the front. A piece of fabric hangs down from the waist. An orange piece of fabric extends from the being's neck adornment to drape across one shoulder and arm, covering half of its chest. Decorative bands encircle the being's biceps, wrists, and ankles. The being has large, round eyes, a pointed black beard, and a grinning fanged mouth. Its headpiece comes to a point on either end. Two large discs protrude from the sides of its head. One of the being's arms is hanging at its side. The other is holding a pointed, hooked object with a long, thin handle. The bird at the being's feet is blue, with a yellow beak and eye marking. It has a long tail, and a single feather extending from the top of its head. The painting's background is yellow, and a rectangular black border surrounds the image. Blue and white oblong rings radiate from the being's head and shoulders.

Skirt Textile3559/58

Long rectangular piece of pleated indigo-dyed skirt fabric with an unfinished upper edge. Wide pink woven panel decorates bottom edge of skirt; painted decorations and applique across upper indigo section. Painted decorations consist of concentric diamonds, dotted lines, and squares with diagonal bands. Applique are multicoloured triangles and diamonds; triangles form star-like shapes and others are integrated into the painted square designs, diamonds in straight rows. Pink stripes throughout applique and painted patterns. Woven panel is trimmed with red and pink embroidery and has a wide white border with diamonds along top and bottom edges. Central row of white sun-like shapes across panel; large "X"'s, made up of smaller "X"'s, mixed throughout sun-like shapes. White squares, with pink diamonds, are in between the gaps in the larger "X"'s. Bottom edge of skirt is trimmed with white and pink stripes.

The background of the painting is gold, and a rectangular black border surrounds the image. Blue and white oblong rings radiate from the being's head and shoulders.

Red-orange raw silk sarong with alternating rows of butterfly and flower designs along length; "W"-like shapes in between each butterfly and diamonds in between the flowers. Zigzag border along top edge of designs and plain line underneath. All designs are done in dark orange and red-pink; green shading along top and bottom edges.

Long, rectangular dark purple sarong with patterned columns along length; made of raw silk. Columns alternate between hook-like designs with horizontal lines, and diamonds with "X" shapes; green lines, trimmed with red, in between each column. Patterns are done in peach and purple-pink. Left and right sides are trimmed with dark green; top and bottom are undecorated.

Black sleeveless blouse, with V-neckline on front and back; entire surface decorated with embroidery and seed beads. Long pieces of fringe along sides and down centre, on bottom half, on front and back of blouse; short fringe extends from top edge of arm openings. Top half of blouse is decorated with multicoloured lines with groupings of four beads, forming an "X" shape, along their lengths; bobbles spaced across stripes too. Large woven panel across middle of blouse; consists of pink bands with rows of diamonds across them, black squares throughout design. Black squares are filled with beads, forming an "I" shape; plain stripes with bobbles trim wide pink bands. Bottom half of blouse has differently decorated embroidered and beaded rows. Embroidered designs consist of plain lines with bobbles, repeating hourglass-like shapes, and zigzags; beaded rows have groupings of two beads forming alternating diagonal lines. Bottom edge of blouse is hemmed; interior is unlined.

Betel Nut Tray3559/35 a-o

Betel nut tray set consisting of a round metal bowl-like stand (part a), that sits on a round tray base (part b), and has another round metal insert tray (part c). Inside the upper tray are a betel nut cutter (part d) and five small metal containers with lids. Four of the containers have rounded sides and lids (parts e-l); the fifth container has straight sides and an insert, as well as a lid (parts m-o). The bowl-like stand, tray base and insert tray are all decorated with floral and curvilinear motifs; additional dragon-like designs around the edges of the insert tray. The lids on all of the metal containers are decorated with multiple incised rings.

The snake-like creature at the being's feet has a long, scaled body that gets thicker near its head. It has large, round eyes, and human-like teeth. Its tail is wrapped around the being's ankle. The painting's background is red and green, and a rectangular black border surrounds the image. Blue and white oblong rings radiate from the being's head and shoulders.
