Mask made of light painted metal. Eyes, mouth and nose are cut-outs, with a piece of folded metal soldered on in three spots over the nose and two very pointed yellow, blue and green horns attached on the forehead. The face is red and has green cheeks and black chin, sideburns, eyes and triangle on the forehead; the back in painted gray.

Lenten Mask2743/9

Wooden face mask. Heavy brow, broad nose, square chin, and wide mouth with pointed teeth are set within the light yellow carved oval shape. There are carved out openings at eyes, nostrils and mouth. Dark brown paint used for eyebrows, under eyes, under and down middle of chin and as a mustache. Pieces of gray foam line the interior surface and a synthetic string attaches to top and sides through metal eye hooks.

Lenten Costume2743/8 a-b

Two piece costume consisting of a heavy wool hooded coat (a) and pants (b). Bands of diamond and linear designs woven in red, yellow, brown, beige, white, orange, and black wools create a striped pattern that is embellished with bands of green and red wool fringes. The coat opens at the front and closes with three brown plastic buttons. Wool leggings have been sewn onto cropped green polyester/viscose trousers with button-up fly.

Skirt that is part of a three-pece outfit with a blouse (part a) and head wrap (2590/2 c). Hollow, yellow-brown fox-faced figure with four arms is the representation of AVAREZA (Portuguese for greed), one of the 'seven sins'--the sin name is carved into the base front, with "JR" at the back. The figure has a basket hanging from each of the lower arms and is clutching five birds while eating another one.
