Textile1585/2

Two identical weavings joined together by black stitching. Alternating bands of red and black; red has repeated animal in white with black lines in tail, blue star and symmetrical shapes between; black has large symmetrical triangle shapes in white and red, blue shapes between each at bottom, and white and red shapes between at top. Striped band in black white and red at each end above black fringe, which have white and red coloured strips.

Leg Band983/1 a-b

Leg bands with woven geometric designs around diamond shapes, in yellow, red, white, orange, black and grey. fringe also has geometric shapes on them, in pink, red, yellow, orange and grey. Reverse side is plain textile with black stripes.

Plain green fabric with narrow top sloping out at sides and a curved bottom. Black fabric on top from bottom to centre, embroidered with flower shapes and sun symbols in dark pink, purple, red, blue, yellow, orange, white and green. Two sets of borders through the designs, in dark pink with white zigzag. Two top corners of black embroidered cloth have black embroidered square with one flower on each. Two loops, one on each side. Dark pink fabric on reverse.

Rectangular coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with rounded shoulder and attached lid. Parallel splint construction (top lid and base). Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?) with vertical rows of parallel bands in dark cherry bark. Parallel horizontal row at middle of basket, with perpendicular bar at regular intervals, in red cherry bark. Catalogue terms "design of flying insect". Lid has parallel bands of dark cherry bark at rim. One solid row of cat-tail grass (?) at top edge of lid, beaded rows of cat-tail grass (?). String attachments.

Part (a) Rectangular coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with rounded shouler, flange and lid, part (b). Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?) with parallel vertical designs alternating between geometric scrolls and zig-zags, in dark cherry bark. Parallel splint base and lid. Lid is imbricated on rim with intervals of dark cherry bark stitches. Row of cat-tail grass (?) at top rim, and horizontal rows of beaded cat-tail grass every other row. Skin tie on one side of lid, and one on basket.

Skirt1458/42 a

Multicoloured skirt with embroidery, hanging panels and tassels. Across the top is a wide green waistband with two red ties and phoenix, dragon and cloud motifs. Below the waistband are hanging panels. The centre front panel has a pink peony on black and cream grounds. The centre back panel has a dragon motif on pink ground. The smaller panels are thin and rectangular with one end flared and pointed. On the front are embroidered different motifs on different coloured grounds. Each hanging panel has two tassels. The tassels are decorated with beads and bells. The back is lined with fuchsia silk.

Part (a) Rounded cylindrical coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with flanged lid, part (b). Watch-spring base and lid construction. Rawhide handle on basket and one thong on lid. Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?) with design in dark cherry bark of alternating bands of 'succession of tepees' (as per label) and solid line. Lid is convex and has flange. Two rows of 'arrow heads' separated by solid line, all in dark cherry bark, with two rows of solid dark cherry bark at center, all on cat-tail grass (?) background. Fibre string attached to one side of skin handle.

Long rectangular shaped sheer silk textile consisting of a solid purple centre with red and white horizontal stripe border on one end and a white and purple stripe border on the other. The top and bottom have an orange and white decorative stripe intermixed with solid stripes of green. The ends are raw.
