Black cotton jacket. The jacket has a short standing collar, long sleeves and centre opening with brass frog closures. The ends of the sleeves are not hemmed. The collar and centre opening are reinforced with a band of white cotton. The inside is unlined.

Carved horn spoon with a long straight handle with a pointed tip and a bowl that tapers to a pointed tip. The handle is dark brown, bowl is mottled dark brown and half light brown. The underside of bowl is lighter with black patches.

BasketNb7.313

Oval cedar bark basket with a square bottom and dark brown diagonal overlay decoration. Decoration consists of four pair of two parallel lines each of dyed cedar bark. Decoration starts near the rim and turns at the corner of base and proceeds up towards the opposite rim, resulting in the decoration covering all sides of basket. Dyed bark is seen every other stitch. String handles consist of two bundles of three pieces of string. The two bundles run parallel to each other, joined together at their top edges by another bundle of two or three pieces of string 6 cm. long. String runs inside the basket for 2.7 cm. on one side, and 4 cm. on the other. String does not run on the underside of the basket.

Part (a) Cylindrical coiled cedar root basket (bifurcated stitches) with double loop border, short foot and lid, part (b). Watch-spring base and lid construction. Imbricated design of three rows of diamonds alternating in checkerboard colour configuration between dark cherry bark outline with cat-tail grass (?), red cherry bark, cat-tail grass (?), and dark cherry bark center; and the reverse colours outlined in red cherry bark and at center between cat-tail grass (?) and dark cherry bark. Lid has half triangular shapes around rim then four full diamond shapes in alternating checkerboard colour configuration, then two rows of staggered triangular shapes in same colour combination. Coil handle at center has broken off. Foot has two stitches of beading alternating between dark and red cherry bark, at intervals. Bottom of basket is also imbricated with checkerboard triangular design in two alternating rows.
