Description

Red, oval-shaped box with five fitted sections stacked vertically--a purple cord tied at the base of the box is threaded through two channels on either side, holding the five parts together. The purple cord extends above the top of the box, with the two ends tied together and held in place with an amber-like netsuke. Designs featuring insects and flowers are lacquered and inlaid, predominantly in gold and black on the box's exterior; the interior is speckled red-orange and gold. Amber-like netsuke has two black insects painted on it.Design of brown octopus and inlaid shells on speckled gold ground. Interior is speckled red/orange and gold composed of four sections. Joined by purple cord. Wooden netsuke with carved turtle on top. Coral ojime, carved.
