Florence Fyfe-Smith, a longtime friend of the University of British Columbia, died in January 1976, at the age of 75. Miss Fyfe-Smith, whose parents came to Canada from Australia at the turn of the century and founded a hardwood importing business, left a sizable donation of funds, in her will, to the UBC Museum of Anthropology for the purchase of Asian objects to add to the "Fyfe-Smith Oriental Collection," which she had already given to the University for display in the Museum of Anthropology.
