Description

Flat-bottomed dark brown glazed pot (part a) with flared rim extending into two wide lips with oval holes to form handles. Incised ridge near base, incised lines on outer, and inner edge of rim, and inner overhanging lip has incised line on outer edge. Lip forms surface on which lid (part b) rests. handle of lid has semi-circular handle rising clear of central flat area with incised line at outer edge, which descends in curved slope with one ridge to lid edge. Interior and exterior have mottled glossy surface with fine striations.

History Of Use

Some pots are used for cooking over open fires. Some jugs and lidded pots are used for food storage and water. This is a piece of Ilorin Ware.
