Description
Large round-body, part (a), is light coloured wood with two small protruding handles pierced, with leather handle strap going through them and attaching to wider leather strap. Extra piece of leather connected to side of leather strap. Mouth of container is wrapped and woven with grasses. Lid, part (b) is bulbous with round and smaller flat top, does not fit well on container. Inside container is charred black.
History Of Use
Container for storing and carrying fresh or curdled milk, or water; or to carry milk to market for sale. Made by men, used by women; carved wood decorated with incised work; sometimes with a woven natural-fibre neck.
