Description

Deeply cut arch-shaped free standing sculpture of a 4 armed standing figure with 3 attendants. Vishnu is in a stiff frontal pose holding a lotus, mace, conch and discus; he wears a crown and is adorned with jewels and a long garland. Flanking him are 2 small females, together they stand on a pedestal which is in a lotus motif and are enclosed in a flame edged halo. At the base, a small male figure is seated on the left with his hands folded.

History Of Use

Pala Sena style carving that probably stood in a niche in a Hindu temple interior, where it would be the object of daily worship.
