Red woven cloth sewn into a skirt-like tube. Blue and white patterning with multi-coloured striped edges.

Specific Techniques

Main portion of sarong woven in supplementary weft patterning technique known as pilih, where lengths of supplementary weft form a decorative background that is subordinate to the main weave. By this technique the main pattern is outlined by the plain, warp-faced weave on the face of the cloth and the supplementary weft is the background. Striped borders are woven in a balanced plain weave. Length of fabric hand-stitched to create tubular shape of the sarong.
