Description

Gold frog brooch (part a) that rests on a glass base (part b). Frog has large circular eyes, and wide mouth and nose; surface of body is textured. Front legs are curved outward from front of body; back legs are partially bent. Back right leg is held close to body and back left is pushed out; all webbed feet are fully extended. Ridges carved in relief along back of frog, depicting motion; similar ridges carved along feet, to depict webbing. Body is hollow; brooch has a round hinge and safety catch clasp on back, extending diagonally from the frog's front right leg to back left leg. Artist signature carved into chin of frog. Base made of thick rectangular, and light blue glass; top is frosted. Lily pad design carved into top right corner of holder, with ripples across entire surface; cut out for brooch in centre of lily pad.
