Chief T̓łakwagila Tom Johnson was the highest chief among the Kwakwaka’wakw, as he had the number one position in Fort Rupert, and the Kwagu’ł were ranked first amongst the tribes. He was married to Mary Hunt, and was the son of Willie and Louisa Johnson. Peter Knox inherited Tom Johnson’s prerogatives.
