Brooks was a Vancouver resident who owned a curio shop, with his wife, for a number of years. He died around 1949 and his collection of stone heads - 'Brooks heads' were offered for sale in his shop by his widow, Mabel. Apparently he collected the stones over a number of years from a mound near the Fraser River, however the site was never discovered before his death.
