A. D. MacFarlane was said to have been the housekeeper for the first B.C. Gold Commissioner, in Prince Rupert in the late 1800s. She is said to have acquired his northern First Nations artifact collection. Around 1936 she sold a collection of objects to Edward Meade in Campbell River.
