Knowledge shared by institutions

João de Deus Ortega has been described as having great humility and being a devoted husband, but with the passing of his wife, he became absorbed with making his ‘bonecos’ (boat carvings). He has mainly lived in Sendas, a small village in the municipality of Bragança, apart from a couple of years spent in Lisbon and France. His folk carvings always relate to religion and village life.
