Mabel Orr Brooks ran the "Old Curiosity Shop," on Robson St. in Vancouver, in the late 1940s and 1950's. She was married to Ross A. Brooks (1882-1946). After his death, she sold her husband's stone carvings, reportedly excavated by Brooks himself at a burial mound near the lower Fraser River (commonly known as "Brooks heads"). The location of the mound was kept secret, and it is still unknown whether the stone carvings were authentic, or fakes.
