Monica Williams (nee Phillips) was born at Chehalis but now lives in Chilliwack on the Skwah Reserve. She is the granddaughter of Mary Peters, who has been referred to as "the last surviving traditional Salish weaver" in several books on the topic of Salish weaving. Her mother is Elizabeth Phillips. Monica Phillips has been weaving since 1968. One of Monica's weavings was chosen by the City of Chilliwack to be presented to the Lord Mayor of London, England when he visited British Columbia. One of her weavings is at the Royal Ontario Museum and others are in various parts of the world.
