Edith Sibley (nee Harrison) was married to Reverend W. E. Sibley in 1906. That same year they went to China to serve as missionaries under the General Board of the Methodist Church of Canada. They served their first term (1906-1912) in Kiating and Penghsien; their second term was in Junghsien(1913-1920). They returned to Junghsien in 1922, leaving their only child in school in Canada. In 1926, Edith was brutally murdered on a street in Chengtu, while they were there for business.
