Tim Paul started carving at the age of 25 under the direction of Ben Andrews, and later with John Livingston at the Arts of the Raven Studio in Victoria. In 1977 Paul began working as an assistant carver to Richard Hunt at the RBCM, where he became chief carver in 1986.
