Born Iwakubo Tatsuyuki (岩窪 辰行) in Edo (present-day Tokyo), Totoya Hokkei (魚屋北渓) was an artist known for his surimono works with kyōka (comic or satirical poems) in the ukiyo-e style. He was one of Katsushika Hokusai’s best known students. Like other Japanese ukiyo-e artists, he was known by various names.
