Hattie May Gale (nee van Buskirk) married Gervase Edward Gale (1872-1950) in Calgary, in 1901. Gervase Gale was a missionary and principal of St. Paul's School at Cardston, Alberta, on the Blood (Kainai) Reserve, c. 1904-1910. Hattie is said to have taught the school girls cooking, at her home. She is also credited with collecting many Kainai objects during those years. Part of her collection was donated to the Glenbow Museum, in Calgary, while the rest was passed down through various family members, with two parts of the collection being donated to MOA in 2016-17.
