Knowledge shared by institutions

Lapiztola is a collective in Oaxaca. Roberto Vega and Rosario Martinez traveled to Vancouver in May 2018 to install their graffiti artworks in an exhibition for the Museum called "Arts of Resistance". The collective takes its name from the Spanish words lapiz (pencil) and pistola (pistol). They were inspired to form by a violent event between the people and the state government in 2006. Mostly working with stencil and serigraphy, they create street art that highlights and denounces injustices, to protest and visually communicate with their society.
