Kiyohara Hitoshi (清原斉) was an artist born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. He studied Nihonga (日本画) or “Japanese style-paintings” with Matsumoto Fūko (松本楓湖) and Katayama Nanpū (堅山南風). He also studied writing and poetry with Kitahara Hakushū (北原白秋) and Suzuki Miekichi (鈴木三重吉). While he was recognized as a painter, he also produced a number of children’s books and illustrations.
