Keisai Eisen (渓斎英泉; 1790-1848) was a ukiyo-e artist and writer from Japan. Born in Tokyo, his real name was Ikeda Yoshinobu (池田義信) and he was also known as Ikeda Shigeyoshi (茂義). He was called Zenjirō (善次郎). His gō/gagō (号/雅号) or artist names include Keisai (渓斎), Kokushunro (国春楼), Hokutei (北亭), Hokkatei (北花亭) and Koizumi (小泉). His teigō (亭号; name as a writer) included Ippitsuan (一筆庵), Mumeiou (旡名翁) and Kaedegawa Ichion (楓川市隠) as as a playwright, Kakō (可候).For his erotic prints, he used the names Insai hakusui (淫斎白水) or Inransai (淫乱斎). Active dates c. 1817-1847.
