Komura Settai (小村雪岱; March 22, 1887 – October 17, 1940) was a prolific artist, who produced paintings, woodblock prints, illustrations and posters. Born in Saitama Prefecture, his real name was Taisuke (泰輔). He initially studied nihonga (Japanese style painting) with Araki Kampo (荒木寛) and then at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He was part of the shin-hanga (新版画, literally “new prints”) movement, co-established by Kawase Hasui (川瀬 巴水); (see MOA collection: Ed5.1431 and 795/24).
