Utagawa Sadahide (歌川貞秀; 1807–c. 1878–79) was a ukiyo-e art from Japan. Born in Chiba Prefecture, he lived in Tokyo and Yokohama. His real name was Hashimoto Kenjiro (橋本兼次郎). His gō/gagō (号/雅号) or artist names include Gountei (五雲亭), Gyokuran (玉蘭), Gyokuransai (玉蘭斎), Ichigyokuran (一玉蘭), Gyokuō (玉翁). He studied with Utagawa Kunisada (歌川国貞), and produced woodblock prints, paintings and illustrations of various genres ranging from Chōkan-zu (鳥瞰図; pictures from a bird’s eye view) and bijin-ga (美人画; beauty pictures). He is known for his Yokohama-e (横浜絵; “Yokohama pictures”), known for depicting non-East Asian foreigners and scenes in the city of Yokohama. He participated in the 1867 International Exposition in Paris as one of the artists along with Utagawa Yoshimune (歌川芳宗).
