Oye'a' (also written Oyay or Oyei) is a high ranking chief name from Gitwinksihlk. He was called "the outstanding craftsman of the Wolf Clan at the canyon of the Nass" by Marius Barbeau. "Oyai, considered the best carver in the Nass River area at that time, spent much of his life in the employment of the chiefs of various tribes, for whom he carved memorial poles" (Maranda, 1976).
