Knowledge shared by institutions

McGary Point has lived at Musqueam for most of his life. He learned to weave from Debbie and Robyn Sparrow, and his sister-in-law Margaret Louis in 1986. He notes that he took up spinning quite easily, and his spinning is said to be very fine. He also knits, and spins yarn for that activity. He spins very fine string-like yarn to make socks. McGary alternates between his weaving and knitting; he knits slippers, sweaters and toques. He prefers natural coloured wool because it is soft. The patterns that he uses for his weavings are spontaneous, he doesn't graph them out.
