Lorraine was born in 1955 in Alert Bay, B.C. into the Nimpkish culture group, but married a Coast Salish man and has resided in the Chemainus area (Penelakut Band) for over 20 years. She is self-taught and has been designing since the late 1980's. She carves bowls, feast dishes, rattles, ladles, spoons, plaques and masks. She has made limited edition prints, sews her own line of clothes and also makes deer hide drums, button blankets, aprons and does silver engraving.
