Knowledge shared by institutions

Edward Dumoi was born in Palembei Village in 1972. Coming from a large family of exceptional carvers, he began at an early age to learn from his father. As well as major ceremonial carvings, Edward is recognised for the creation of sculptures inspired by life in the village, and he recently created a major sculpture of the Prime Minister
of Papua New Guinea, Sir Michael Somare. Dumoi constantly pushes boundaries, even creating non traditional ceremonial regalia. His work can be found in international collections in Australia, Canada and the United States.
