Tlingit noblewoman Anisalaga (Mary Ebbets Hunt) was originally from Tongass, Alaska. Around 1843 she married Robert Hunt, the chief factor for the Hudson Bay Company at Port Simpson. Some years later (c. 1850) they moved to Fort Rupert; she gave birth to twelve or thirteen children. One of her sons was George Hunt of Fort Rupert who worked as collaborator on Franz Boas' ethnographic research. She wove a chilkat robe for each of her children.
