Description

Rectangular men's wrapper with tassled edging along sides. Wrapper is off-white with bands of green interspersed with yellow, black and red stripes running horizontally in series. Top and bottom extremities have green, yellow, black and white stripes, followed by a thick purple band at the edge. A muted yellow and red stripe runs vertically at the side edges.

History Of Use

Macawiis's were introduced to the Horn of Africa as a result of trading with south and southeast Asia. Macawiis’s tend to have high-key colours and patterns and are sold pre-sewn in a cylindrical shape. They are worn wrapped around the waist several times and are typically casual wear.
